Construction Materials Testing
Group Delta Consultants offer a full range of construction materials testing and inspection services during construction of a wide variety projects. We are able to provide our clients with testing of soils and other building materials in our certified in-house or mobile laboratory facilities. Our San Diego Laboratory has been awarded accreditation to the technical competence and quality assurance requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005. We are also one of the very few labs in California on Caltrans' Division of Engineering Authorized_Laboratories_List to perform testing on prequalification and production sample splices on reinforcing steel. Our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to perform tests in accordance with the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) and other applicable standards. Our services during the construction phase are directed towards strict compliance of regulatory guidelines. Adherence to specifications is monitored and documented by registered geotechnical engineers, licensed inspectors and certified laboratories.

The Anaheim Regional Transportation
Intermodal Center (ARTIC)
The Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) is being developed through a partnership between the City of Anaheim and the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA). This multi-year project will offer new and/or expanded transportation services as an intermodal hub for several transit modes such as Amtrak, Metrolink, local and international buses, shuttles, bicycles/pedestrians, and Anaheim Rapid Connection (ARC). One of the most notable features of ARTIC will be the new iconic Terminal Building (pictured above) reaching 117-feet high with an approximate footprint of 48,000 square feet. The project will also feature a Concourse Bridge extending from the southern end of the Terminal Building and over the current LOSSAN railroad corridor. ARTIC will include a service yard building located west of the Terminal Building.
Group Delta Consultants is providing construction materials testing and inspection services during the construction of ARTIC. Some of the testing and inspections provided will include: rebar, concrete, forms, fireproofing, shop steel inspection, steel ultra-sonic testing, welding/bolting/field inspections, building inspection/MEP/HVAC.
San Diego City College Math and
Social Sciences Building
The San Diego City College Math and Social Sciences Building is a 5 story, 73,000 square foot, containing classrooms, a health center, a corporate education center and associated support space along with a 7 tier, 400-car, parking garage.
Group Delta Consultants is providing materials testing and special inspection services for this project during construction. Our work includes providing special inspection and testing services for all of the reinforcing steel (including headed rebar), reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, structural steel, high-strength bolts, shop and field welding, masonry, anchors, and fire proofing. Group Delta provided geotechnical parameters for foundation design including 149 caissons ranging from 2 feet to 6 feet in diameter and up to 90 feet in length.
Gene Autry Way (West) Hwy/
I-5 HOV Interchange Project
The Gene Autry Way (West)/I-5 HOV Interchange project was designed to relieve congestion on the I-5, provide westerly access to the I-5 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, provide access across I-5 between the west and east portions of the City of Anaheim, and improve local traffic circulation. The project was jointly funded by Federal, State and local public agencies to extend existing six-lanes of Gene Autry Way westerly from Interstate 5 Freeway to Haster Street. The work consisted of a cast-in-place box girder bridge, retaining walls, sound walls, road paving, curb and gutter, sidewalk, raised median island, drainage, landscaping and utility improvements.
Group Delta Consultants provided quality assurance materials testing and inspection for the Construction Management firm. We provided all construction materials testing in the field including testing of concrete aggregate; asphalt aggregates, asphalt gravity testing, concrete pavement, pavement base course, lean concrete base, retaining wall backfill, major and minor structural concrete, and special inspection services including welding.
San Vicente Dam Raise
The crown jewel of the San Diego County Water Authority's Emergency Storage Project is the $145 million San Vicente Dam Raise project. The dam previously stood at 220 feet and stored up to 90,000 acre-feet of water. The dam raise project increased the height by 117 feet making it the tallest dam raise in the United States, and more than doubed the capacity of the reservoir by adding another 152,000 acre-feet.
For the second phase of this project, Group Delta Consultants provided materials testing and inspection services to the contractor that raised the dam using roller-compacted concrete (RCC). The RCC extended from the base of the dam's downstream side to its ultimate height of 337 feet. Group Delta also provided laboratory and field testing services for the on-site crushing operation for 1.1 million tons of mass aggregate, testing of 650,000 cubic yards of roller compacted concrete, and testing of the earthwork associated with the dam raise.
